Since May 2022, we’ve supported NG Bailey’s work on Project MENSA, providing the electrical and mechanical tradespeople essential to keeping progress on schedule – from installation through to commissioning.
50 Skilled Trades. 18 Months. Zero Disruption.
When NG Bailey, one of the UK’s leading engineering businesses, approached us, they needed a trusted partner to source and manage security-cleared electrical and mechanical trades for Project MENSA – a highly secure site within AWE Burghfield, responsible for the assembly, maintenance, and decommissioning of the UK’s nuclear deterrent.
From mobilisation to momentum.
Our mission: build, mobilise, and retain a specialist M&E workforce that could thrive under the most rigorous standards of safety, security, and scrutiny.
We delivered.
Within weeks, 50 trades professionals were mobilised on-site, fully vetted and ready to work. With a full-time recruiter dedicated to the account, we kept a continuous talent pipeline active ensuring every clearance delay was matched with a candidate ready to step in.
What started as a short-term mobilisation evolved into a long-term partnership built on precision, reliability, and delivery without disruption.
High security. High stakes. No room for error.
We delivered a workforce that could handle all three.
A high-security site demands high-performance support.
Our approach combined boots-on-the-ground delivery with the discipline of continuous workforce planning.
Here’s how we made it happen:
On top of recruitment, we’ve created an end-to-end workforce deployment programme designed for precision and continuity, delivered by people who understand what “critical environment” really means.
Our partnership with NG Bailey on Project MENSA delivered measurable impact:
“It’s tremendously encouraging to see that the electricians that you have initially provided to NG Bailey as temporary workers have now been employed on a permanent basis by us. As we look forward in 2023 to the increasing MEH installation on Hinkley Point C, they should have a very long and promising future with us.”
– John Anderson, Head of Workforce, NG Bailey
Delivery at the sharp end of the UK’s most complex infrastructure projects demands more than labour supply. It takes discipline, trust, and staying power.
By understanding clearance cycles, workforce behaviours, and project rhythms, we kept NG Bailey moving ensuring critical milestones were met and operations remained seamless.
Because on sites where failure isn’t an option, Vital delivers certainty.
That’s why clients like NG Bailey call us when precision matters most.
