Training and apprenticeships

Building skills. Shaping futures.

Building skills. Shaping futures.

At Morson Vital, we know that skilled people build safer, stronger infrastructure.

That’s why training and apprenticeships aren’t just add-ons, they’re at the heart of how we operate.

We’re committed to creating career pathways that bring new talent into the rail and infrastructure industries, combining hands-on experience, classroom learning, and industry accreditation to build a future-ready workforce.

Every investment in training today is an investment in safer, smarter delivery tomorrow.

Apprenticeships that go the distance

Our Rail Engineering Apprenticeship Programme blends on-the-job training with academic qualifications, leading to Level 2 NVQ in Rail Engineering Track Maintenance.

Delivered in partnership with Morson Nexus and accredited industry providers, our apprentices gain:

  • Practical skills through supervised field experience

  • Classroom instruction in safety, maintenance, and infrastructure systems

  • Mentorship from experienced rail professionals

This structured learning pathway ensures apprentices graduate ready to deliver excellence in real-world rail environments, equipped for long-term success, not short-term compliance.

Our programmes go beyond mandatory qualifications to deliver real benefits for clients, workers, and communities.

By developing multi-skilled, safety-conscious teams, we help clients reduce risk, improve retention, and meet the demands of complex infrastructure delivery.

That’s skills with substance, built to last the length of a career, not just a contract.

Investing beyond compliance

We see training as a value driver, not a checkbox.

We’re proud members of the 5% Club, an industry initiative dedicated to increasing the number of apprentices, graduates, and trainees in the workforce.

Through this commitment, Vital actively supports:

  • Greater access for underrepresented groups

  • Inclusive recruitment across rail and infrastructure

  • Career pathways that encourage social mobility and opportunity

By creating entry routes into traditionally male-dominated industries, we’re helping to broaden participation, diversify skills, and open the door to sustainable careers.

Vital works closely with public bodies, training providers, and local authorities to create employment pathways for individuals facing barriers to work.

Our initiatives include:

  • Pre-employment training and induction courses

  • Competency certification and safety training

  • Guaranteed job placements upon completion

This joined-up approach supports both local employment and national workforce development,  turning potential into productivity.

With the UK infrastructure and rail industries facing a national skills shortage, Vital’s role in upskilling and training the next generation has never been more critical.

Our commitment aligns with national goals to grow sustainable employment, bridge technical skills gaps, and futureproof essential infrastructure delivery.

We’re proud to play our part, ensuring every project contributes to a stronger, more resilient talent pipeline for the future.
